Knochel Brothers recognizes that the quality of construction speaks volumes about a community's image, and our ultimate goal is to make residents proud of where they live as well as helping municipalities attract and retain a vibrant citizenry for many years to come. Knochel Bros. has recently become involved with the Phoenix Rescue Mission (Changing Lives Center) by providing all labor and equipment necessary to grade and pave their newest location.

During a recent project in Florence, Arizona, our relationship with town staff and policy makers led to an invitation for the construction of an aero-modeler runway project for the community. Knochel Brothers received written recognition, a banner from the residents at Florence Gardens and a plaque for our work.

Knochel Brothers' quality management philosophy is directed toward the safety of the public, our employees and trade partners, as well as the excellence of the finished product. The Quality Management Plan has four major focal points:

    1. Documents: Knochel Brothers starts every project by familiarizing staff with all of the applicable documents on each project, including the contract, engineer’s drawings, project specifications, and any other applicable codes or standards.
    2. Inspections and Testing: Our Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel work as a team with inspectors and geotechnical consultants in order to achieve the highest-quality, best-performing finished product.
    3. Staff Experience and Integrity: All of our management personnel have more than 10 years' experience in the road building and maintenance industry, the vast majority in the Valley and with Knochel Brothers. This long-term experience level provides a real-life understanding of what works and what does not.
    4. Emphasis on communication, pre-planning and daily task assignments: Our goal is to have jobs run smoothly from start to project close out—and it is our attention to the details that determines the difference between a project that exceeds expectations rather than simply meeting them.

All of our management personnel have more than 10 years' experience in the road building and maintenance industry, the vast majority in the Valley and with Knochel Brothers. Our differentiating factors include:

  • 100% on-site project supervision during construction; 100% on-site or on-call project manager
  • A company-owned equipment list of more than 125 pieces of well-maintained grading and paving and support equipment.
  • Experience working with design teams at the design and production phases of construction, including value engineering and all aspects of planning and engineering of road building and maintenance.
  • Time-tested relationships with civil design engineers, geotechnical engineers and traffic engineers.
  • A successful track record working with and coordinating subcontractors for outsourced work.
  • An emphasis on communication, pre-planning and daily task assignments.
  • A focus on partnering with municipal Quality Assurance and Quality Control personnel.

Knochel Brothers has performed design phase assistance and construction services as a job order contractor (JOC) and as a construction manager at risk (CMAR) in agency rights-of-way. For more than 25 years, we have successfully completed hundreds of new and maintenance construction projects in Central Arizona. Our firm is ideally sized to handle a wide range of contracts.

Historically, Knochel Brothers self-performs between 75-100% of its projects. Our management and staff excel at dealing with demanding schedules, unforeseen problems and numerous subcontractors in a variety of specialties, while staying focused on construction cost and quality. Incorporated in 1983, the company is registered with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and our license number is ROC084070, Type A, General Engineering.
